4th of July Fun!

Geoff and I had a fun 4th of July weekend! We had plans to go up to Gooding, Idaho to visit Geoff's family that lives up there, but our plans for that fell through. So we basically just did our own thing!

Thursday night we thought it would be a fun idea to camp out... in the backyard! We've been trying to go camping up in the mountains for the past couple of weeks, but the last weekends have had chances of rain and thunder, so we didn't end up going. We have been wanting to test out our new tent so we figured we would just do a little campout for free! We had tin foil dinner and roasted starbursts in the backyard fire pit. We set up the tent and all, but unfortunately we didn't last too long sleeping in it! There were fireworks going off on both sides of us at our neighbor's houses, and there was no way I was going to attempt to sleep with all the booming and banging noises! It was still fun while it lasted though.

Friday was the 4th of July! We didn't do much but clean and lay around the house until about 4 in the afternoon. We went downtown Sandy and watched a parade and walked around the different food and activity booths that were set up. It's times like these where we wished we had young kids that would be entertained by all the activities! Oh well, we'll try to entertain ourselves for a few more years until that happens :)

Since the place where Sandy's main firework show was way too packed for our taste, we thought it would be a good idea to go to Jordan High School, which is only a couple blocks from where we live, and watch the fireworks from there. We saw people gathering there so we figured we would as well. Plus we would avoid an extra 20 or more minutes to get back home with all the traffic!

Once we got there we sat right on top of a hill and could see for miles and miles. Geoff thought it was neat to be able to see 3 temples from where we were sitting! Only in Utah. But before Sandy's main firework show, we saw dozens and dozens if not hundreds of smaller firework shows going off in the distance. It was pretty awesome! Here's a video of our view of the firework show... If you look closely, you can see all the other firework shows happening in the background. Basically anything that looks like a flashing light is a firework :)
