Welcome Home, Elder Whetstone

Geoff's brother, Zach, returned home from his mission yesterday! I was pretty excited for Geoff to see Zach over FaceTime after not seeing him for almost four years. His flight ended up being 2 hours delayed, so he didn't fly in until midnight our time! There was no way I would be able to stay up until then, but Geoff did and was able to see him arrive at the airport and greet the rest of his family.

We're excited to drive up to Ephrata in a couple weeks and see him in person and hear more about his adventures in the Marshall Islands!

We're happy to have you home, Zach!

Happy Birthday, Geoffrey

Yesterday my husband turned 23! Although we both had to work and Geoff didn't get off work until 9 at night, we still made the most of the time we had left. I made him a yummy dinner, a homemade better than you-know-what cake, filled the entrance of our apartment with 23 balloons, and surprised him big time with an iPad Mini! I don't think he has gotten off that thing since he opened it!

The day before Geoff's birthday, his younger brother Mikenzie had driven down with my cousin Jarred to deliver trees to the Costcos in our area from Willow Drive, a tree nursery in my hometown. I think it was the perfect pre-birthday for Geoff to spend all day with his brother. They walked around Temple Square since Mikenzie had never been there before. Later that night, we went to Chili's with a few of my other cousins and I had the waiters and waitresses sing to Geoff for his birthday! That was pretty fun.

I posted a birthday picture of Geoff along with these words:

"Happy Birthday to the best husband a girl could ask for! There's no better feeling than knowing you're loved and mean the world to someone, and I feel privileged to be that person in your life. I hope all the balloons, the better than you-know-what cake, and your new iPad Mini can make up for not being able to celebrate until 9 at night once you got off work! I love you more than I could ever express through writing. Here's to celebrating another birthday together!"
